In a forgotten greenhouse on an uncertain future Earth, a young flower named Azzy awakes for the most important day of the year—Blooming Day. When the water that sustains the greenhouse suddenly stops arriving, Azzy and her friends must embark on a journey beyond the only home they have ever known in search of the legendary Madison Square Garden.
Filled with humor, adventure, heart, and soaring music, Always Greener is a family musical about belonging, courage, and most importantly—growth. Through a vibrant world of flowers, butterflies, weeds, and seeds, the story reminds us that sometimes the most beautiful things grow where we least expect them—and that a weed is simply a flower growing in the wrong place.
ABOUT THE
POEM
Always Greener is inspired by “Stronger Soon”, an original poem by Courtney Kofoed. The poem planted the seed for a musical in co-creator Bryan Black, who invited Robert Lighthall to help develop its themes and imagery into a full-length musical.
I’m wilting like a daisy,
Buffeted by winter winds.
Such a yellow center,
But no sun is welcome in.
I feel my petals falling
To the ground beneath my stem,
Waiting for the day
When warm spring will come again.
Meet the Garden
Stronger Soon
